Lindsay McCarthy’s Mold Nightmare: A Year Without a Home
Hey everyone! Remember the story we shared last summer about Lindsay McCarthy, the Cambridge woman who couldn’t live in her rental home because of mold? Well, we have an update for you!
A Year Without Home
It’s been almost a year since Lindsay signed the lease for her Cambridge home, but she and her three daughters still can’t live there. The mold problem has made it impossible for them to return.
“Nobody ever expects that they’re going to move into a home and have to not even get to live in it and be afraid of homelessness,” Lindsay shared.
The Fight Continues
Despite efforts to address the mold issue, it’s still persistent. Lindsay is currently living with family, but the space is tight. She’s hoping to recover all the rent she’s paid and the moving costs at the next landlord and tenant Board hearing on February 21st.
The city of Cambridge has stepped in to help by hiring a company called Puro Clean to address the mold. The city is working to ensure the property owner complies with the necessary work to bring the home into compliance.
A Light at the End of the Tunnel
Lindsay is determined to move forward and find a clean, peaceful home for her family. Despite the challenges she’s faced, she remains hopeful and optimistic about the future.
Let’s keep Lindsay and her family in our thoughts and hope that they can soon move into a safe and mold-free home. Remember, no matter what challenges you face, there’s always a way to overcome them. Stay strong and keep pushing forward!
