How I Organize My Phone for Intentional Use

Hey, lovely readers! I’m Mattie Bella, the director of the documentary “Minimalism.” Today, I want to show you how I keep my phone organized so that I can use it with intention and focus. Let’s dive in!

Raised Awake Feature: A Distraction Begone!

First things first, let’s talk about the “Raised Awake” feature on Apple phones. This nifty trick automatically turns on your screen when you lift up your phone. But for me, that glowing screen was a major distraction. So, I turned it off to stay focused and present.

My Home Screen Essentials

On my home screen, I keep all my most-used apps within reach. For business, Freshbooks is my go-to for uploading receipts. Overcast is where I catch up on podcasts. And my trusty to-do list app keeps me organized for both work and personal tasks.

  • Keep essential apps on your home screen for easy access.
  • Organize tasks with a to-do list app.

Embracing Simplicity: Deleting Distractions

I’ve learned to trim the excess on my phone. Email stays off unless I need it for work, then I delete it when done. And I’ve hidden apps like Instagram and Google Chrome in a folder called “Don’t Touch” to avoid distractions.

When I need extreme focus, I switch to a black and white filter on my phone. It’s surprisingly effective at reducing screen time and keeping me on track.

  • Create folders to hide distracting apps.
  • Try a black and white filter for focused screen time.

Final Touches: Widgets and Siri Apps

To further declutter my phone, I’ve removed widgets and disabled Siri suggested apps. This way, I resist the temptation to stray off course and stay true to my priorities.

  • Clean up widgets and suggested apps for a streamlined phone experience.

By setting priorities and simplifying my phone use, I’ve found a balance that works for me. Remember, it’s all about staying intentional and focused. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
